Mathematical Engineering

Academic Degrees:

Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering Mathematics

Professional Degree:

Mathematical Engineer

Duration:

11 semesters, day schedule, semi-flexible curriculum

Description

These engineers specialize in the uses of advanced mathematical techniques to model and solve complex problems in Engineering and Sciences. Their formation addresses differential equations and control theory, probabilities, the optimization and numeric analysis, discrete mathematics and computer science. These tools allow engineers to translate problems to mathematical language, solve them numerically with the assistance of computers and obtain qualitative and quantitative information regarding the solutions. Generally, working in collaboration with other engineers, though their training allows them to make significant contributions in all areas that require advanced mathematics.

Employment opportunities

Engineers work in companies within sectors of mining, forestry, energy, finance, transportation, planning, in addition to government agencies and organizations. There is also the option of pursuing Master or Doctorate studies in scientific research centers, national and foreign universities.
