Description

Mechanical Engineers participate in all productive sectors related to the main national exports: mining, forestry, cellulose, agroindustry and fishing. They take part in energy sectors (generation in thermal power plants to combined cycle gas) in the national manufacturing industry, industrial refrigeration and air conditioning, as well as in related environmental, renewable energy and foreign fuel agencies and consultancies established in the country – reflecting a degree of internationalization in their training.

Employment opportunities

They work in power companies that generate electric power (thermal and hydroelectric plants), in the nation’s most important export sectors (mining, forestry, cellulose and paper, agro-industry and fishing), in industry materials transformation (steel mills), in the production of capital, goods and consumption (machines and industrial equipment, textiles, metal-mechanics) refrigeration and air conditioning. There is also work in companies and State organizations that serve as a regulatory function for transportation and environmental issues.
