Prof. Luis Vargas is a civil engineer from the Universidad de Chile and holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is Associate Professor at the Universidad de Chile and an academic of the Electrical Engineering Department.
He has held positions as chief professor, external projects coordinator and director of the Department of Electrical Engineering, among others.
His lines of research are linked to the sustainable development of energy systems, the promotion and integration of renewable energies in electrical systems and safety in electrical networks.
He has fostered the Renewable Energy minor at the Faculty and has held positions of great relevance in the electricity sector.
