Department of Industrial Engineering

Introduction

The Department of Industrial Engineering was founded in 1965 and it is part of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Chile, which attracts some of the best students in the country.

We have been pioneers and leaders in the education of industrial engineers, which in Chile corresponds to a business graduate with a strong mathematics and science background. Our graduate programs have an excellent reputation, which is reflected in the strong demand in the labor market for their graduates, as well as in the number of graduates from the programs that are accepted for Ph.D. studies at universities ranked among the best in the world. We also have a substantial number of Latin American students in our programs.

We have been able to attract excellent researchers to our department, offering them an environment that fosters and values academic research. We have 30 full time Professors and 8 Adjunct Professors, in areas such as operations management, marketing, economics, finance and information technology. The relevance of our research is proven by the growing number of publications and the impact of our applied research. This makes us leaders in CHILE and a top ranked academic center in the Latin American region.
