Abstract

The motions of the Earth's lithosphere act as a powerful lens into the dynamic behavior of the asthenosphere and deeper mantle. Surface observations, therefore, provide important constraints on mantle convection patterns through space/time and constitute important constraints for theoretical models and numerical simulations. In the present Talk, I will elucidate various numerical and analytical examples, aiming to enhance our comprehension of the intricate interplay between plate motions and mantle convection on both regional and global scales.
