Abstract: Three decades of observations of the microwave sky have led to remarkably precise constraints on the overall properties of the universe. While we continue to refine and test our cosmological model, distortions of the primordial microwave background due to structures in the universe are advancing our knowledge of galaxies, galaxy clusters, and large-scale structure. I will give an overview of these topics in the context of the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, which operated from a site on Cerro Toco in northern Chile from 2008-2022, and Simons Observatory, which is currently being commissioned at the same site.
Chile will be the leading center of microwave sky observations for the next decade.
