Bachelor of Science in Astronomy.
Duration:
8 academic semesters, day program, semi-flexible curriculum.
Description
Did you know that Chile has the best skies in the hemisphere to study astronomy? This is why some of the most modern astronomic observatories in the world have been installed in the northern part of the country. Astronomers study the light emitted from different celestial bodies of the universe with the help of telescopes and other sophisticated instruments to analyze how galaxies, stars, planets and others are made, how they move and when they began.
The road to becoming an astronomer begins at the FCFM by first obtaining a BA in Physics or Astronomy, leading to postgraduate studies in Astronomy. This will allow you to work in one of these spectacular observatories, in research centers, or universities. To be an astronomer it is important to be a good observer, possess mathematical aptitude, be skilled with computers, be patient, and over all, have the desire to know more about the origins of our universe.
Career Opportunities
Students of the Bachelor of Sciences in Astronomy are trained to successfully pursue postgraduate and/or advanced professional studies correlated with Astronomy and related sciences, in Chile as well as abroad.
