María Elena Lienqueo Contreras

Director of Diversity and Gender

Prof. María Elena Lienqueo is a Chemical Engineer and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Chile. She is full professor at the University of Chile and academic in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Materials. She has been an FCFM academic since 2000.

She was deputy director of the FCFM Postgraduate and Continuing Education School and is senior researcher at the Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (CeBiB).

Currently, her research focuses on the development of procedures for the isolation and purification of proteins, on the modeling of chromatographic processes, on the use of artificial intelligence in bioprocesses; and in the production of biorefinery and biofuels.
