Laboratorio de Paleomagnetismo


En el Laboratorio de Paleomagnetismo y Tectónica se pueden caracterizar las propiedades y mineralogía magnética de las rocas: Estudiar el magnetismo remanente de las muestras y también determinar la fábrica magnética de éstas. Además contamos con un completo set de Pc y software que permite el modelamiento geológico estructural en 2, 3 y 4 dimensiones.

Equipamiento e instrumentos

Magnetómetros: El magnetómetro mide el campo magnético inducido por la muestra ubicada en su interior, la que gira rápidamente a velocidad constante dentro de un par de bobinas de Helmholtz.

2. Magnetómetro de rotación Molspin.

Minerales magnéticos y fábrica magnética:

Los siguientes equipos permiten caracterizar los minerales magnéticos que portan la magnetización. También es posible determinar la fábrica magnética presente en la muestra (la orientación de los minerales magnéticos)

2.) Kappabridge de multifrecuencia para medir susceptibilidad magnética y anisotropía de susceptibilidad magntica de rocas.
3.) Imantador de impulso (ASC scientific, modelo IM-10-30
